Apple Potpourri Pie
Materials Needed:

1 sq of tan felt
1 4.5 inch terra cotta saucer
1 small decorative apple
Acrylic craft paint - red & green
Apple potpourri
Several Cotton balls or a handful of fiberfill

Scissors, glue gun, glue, paint brush
Directions:

  1. Paint the bottom and sides of the terra cotta saucer red.
  2. Paint the trim of the terra cotta saucer green.
  3. Using the opposite end of a paintbrush, make small dots in green, evenly spaced around the
side of the terra cotta saucer.
  4. Let the paint thoroughly dry.
  5. Cut 8 strips of felt aprox. 1.25”x 6”
  6. Loosely weave the 8 strips together.  Four strips in each direction.  Using a simple over &
    under weave.
  7. Using a glue gun, secure the weave in place by placing a tiny bit of glue between a few of
the woven pieces.  Be sure to keep the glue in between the felt strips and out of site.
  8. Line the inside of the saucer with potpourri.
  9. Place a thin layer of fiberfill or cotton over the potpourri. (Most potpourris are dyed, the
fiberfill helps prevent the dye from bleeding into the felt.)
  10. Center the woven felt over the saucer and glue down to the top of the saucer.
  11. Trim the woven felt so it falls a little under 1/2 inch over the sides.
  12. Glue a small decorate apple in the center.
  13. If the fiberfill shows through the weave, tuck small pieces of potpourri in the corners of
the weave to hide the fiberfill.

***NOTE:  Do NOT attempt to heat or cook this craft!  It is solely for decoration.  I think
that's kind of obvious, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway.
